A farm boy from New Washington Ohio
Gary Geissman has drag raced off and on for years, worked in the PPG Indy car world series, and worked with champions like Gordon Johncock, Johnny Rutherford, and Al Unser Jr., and been employed in the Nascar Sprint Cup series for 19 years. He has owned about 200 plus cars in 40 years – including American Motors, Buicks, Cadillac’s, Chevy’s, Dodges, Fords, Jeeps, Lincolns, Mercury’s, Oldsmobile’s, Pontiacs, Plymouths, Studebakers, and even an old 1954 Kenworth with a 220 Cummins with a 4x5x2 transmission, just way cool! He loves them all. You may see him cruising in his daily driver – a 1969 Chevrolet Bel Air, or his 1966 Chevelle 300 Deluxe.
He owned his own lawn mower shop at 14 years old! He said he had the fastest lawn mower around, and the local Police said to park it because it didn’t have a mower deck on it! He has driven everything with wheels or tracks on it over the years.
He decided to start a 24 hour towing business in 1986 with 3 trucks and a service garage with 7 employees and it is still in business today. While drag racing he also specialized in Big Block Chevrolet engine building with many local racers. But that just wasn’t enough, also owning a fleet of Kenworth trucks over the years hauling all types of things in dump trailers and tankers!
Old cars are a real strong hobby for him, and he loves unmolested original vehicles as well as exotic hot rods and muscle cars.
He says getting his drivers license in 1974 was crazy because muscle cars were for sale in the back row of every dealers lot! Some notable purchases he had are a 1966 Pontiac GTO for $625.00, 1968 SS396 Chevelle $850.00 with only 32,000 miles on it, 1970 Chevelle SS454 1 owner red with black strips with 48,000 miles on it $1250.00 he says he could go on and on with the Camaro’s and Mustang’s but he won’t!
Yep, just a car guy wanting to make sure everybody knows where the cruise ins and car shows are. So here is the website for all to enjoy! Unless you own a Prius!
