Letter From The Editor September 2019

THE YEAR WAS 1955

1955 was a great year for all cars. They were absolutely stunning pieces of art, and most top models
now had V-8’s !
What were people talking about as they were cruising in their new 1955 rides?

Wow, did you hear the post office is thinking about charging 7 cents just to mail a letter?

I heard they were going to raise the minimum wage to $1.00! Nobody will be able to afford to hire
any outside help at the store anymore.

My goodness who would have thought when I first started driving that gas would someday be 25.9
cents per gallon? Guess pretty soon we will have to leave the car in the garage.

I am afraid to send my children to the movie theater anymore! Ever since Clark Gable got by with
saying DAMN in Gone with the Wind, it seems as if every movie has HELL or Damn in it anymore.
It’s just disgusting!

It’s totally crazy, I read the other day that they actually think they can land a man on the moon by
the end of the century. They even have some fellows in Texas called Astronauts preparing for it. Just Crazy nonsense.

I heard the other day that some baseball player named Joe Dimazzio signed a contract, and being paid $50,000 a year just to play ball! It wouldn’t surprise me if someday they will be making more than our President!

You know I never thought I would ever see the day when kitchen appliances would be electric. I even
heard they are making electric typewriters now too!

It’s really getting tough out there these days. I see where a few married women are having to work
to make ends meet.

It seems like it won’t be long before young couples are going to have to hire someone to watch their
kids so they can both work.

I am afraid those Volkswagens everyone are buying now might open the door up to a lot of foreign
business in the future?

Thank goodness I won’t live to see the day the Government takes half our income in taxes.
I am sometimes wondering if we are electing the best people?

These McDonalds restaurants opening up make me wonder how many people would eat at a fast food place?
I seriously doubt that it will ever catch on.

There is no reason to go on these short weekend trips anymore. It costs nearly $2.00 a night to stay
in a hotel anymore, no matter where you go.

I’ll tell you one thing, you can’t afford to get sick these days it’s almost $15.00 a day for a
room in a hospital, that’s insane.

You talk about insane I went to the barber the other day for a haircut and he charged me 30
cents plus 5 cents extra for some witch hazel. I am going to have the wife do it next time.

Oh yes 1955 how good it was.

Keep on Cruisin folks before they do away with our gas powered cars haha!

Bear out!
